Not every day is going to be raindrops and roses.  But that doesn’t mean you can’t redirect how you react to the thorns!

Have you ever heard a song on the radio that has lifted your spirits or recalled a happy moment just by the scent of a bloom?  These memories and experiences stay with us for a lifetime and can be called upon to jump start your mood or redirect your focus.

Next time you find yourself in a difficult moment or just need a little bit of cheer, boost your mood by practicing reflective thinking.

Find a quiet place where there are no distractions. Engage your senses by focusing on specific details and your emotions. Is holding your child’s first baby blanket going to warm your heart or will grasping that baseball you caught in the bleachers at a baseball game going to get your heart racing?  Find that special prop and allow yourself a few minutes to relive those glorious moments.

The take away from this week’s post is to better negotiate those twists and turns in life, make time to remember and enjoy reflective thinking.  You’ll be happier for doing so.
